1. The intrinsically safe barrier BI-2 is designed as a separating device between electrical circuits
explosive and non-explosive zones located in the explosive zone of digital controllers with an RS232 interface or other
digital devices and to ensure the reception / transmission of data via the RS232 interface between the specified devices and devices,
located in a non-explosive area.
2. The BI-2 barrier has input intrinsically safe electrical circuits of the "ib" level and explosion protection marking II (2)G [Ex ib] IIB Gb,
which meets the requirements of GOST 12.2.007.0, GOST 22782.0, GOST 22782.5 and is intended for placement outside explosive areas of premises
and external installations.
3. The BI-2 barrier can be used as part of measuring systems and complexes, including flow meters
commercial metering of gases and liquids, as well as as part of systems for monitoring and regulating technological processes in various industries
industries where intrinsic safety of measuring circuits is required.
4. The characteristics of the received electrical signals and those generated by the BI-2 barrier correspond to the characteristics
coded (digital) signal according to the RS232 interface standard.
5. Serial products, as well as devices that have a Certificate
(Type examination certificate) on explosion protection and permits for use in Ukraine, made with the type of explosion protection
"intrinsically safe electrical circuits" according to GOST 22782.5 with the level of protection "ib", as indicated by the "X" sign in the marking

1. Electric power supply of the Barrier BI-2 must be carried out from an external DC power source
with output voltage ranging from 10 to 13.5 V.

The BI-2 barrier provides electrical power to devices located in the explosive zone using an external source
power supply for each connected device:
- DC voltage . . . . - not less than 6 V;

2. Electrical parameters of intrinsically safe circuits of Barrier BI-2 do not exceed the following values:
- no-load voltage . . . . - 15.7 V;
- short circuit current . . . . . - 460 mA.
3. Operation of the BI-2 barrier is allowed under the following conditions:
- ambient air temperature from minus 40 to 60 °С;
- relative humidity up to 98% at a temperature of 35 °C.
4. Overall dimensions of BI-2 . . . no more than 157 x 95 x 58 mm
5. The mass of the barrier does not exceed . . - 0.5 kg.
6. The service life of the barrier is not less than 12 years.
